Day 12 - A movie that you hate

I’m not sure I ever bothered to hate a movie. If I didn’t like it I just turned it off. I’ve never felt the need to walk out of a movie theater, but then I’m pretty picky about the movies I spend my time and money on.

I will say that Mars Attacks looked like it would be fantastic. Funny, silly, a perfect first ever first date movie during high school. Boy was I wrong.

This is a picture of where I usually eat my lunch. My preferred spot is the bench under the tree in the back center of this picture. Unfortunately there have been a large number of ticks there lately, so I’ve been using the bench to the far left.

Off to see the O’s! Michelle Obama is throwing out the first pitch!

It’s been too hot to think. Or to post an entry it seems. Now I’m a little behind on the movie meme, and since I promised you 60 entries, I’m not going to try to catch up, I’m just going to continue on from where I left off.

Day 11 - A movie that changed your opinion about something
Zombieland! While I have always liked zombies, I never really cared for them in film. I’ve never been much of a horror/gore fan, so most zombie films failed from the start with me.

Star Trek (2009) showed me that reboots can work, if done right.

We had a very exciting, if very hot weekend. Tigs’ dad came down to visit. The two of them went to go see the Orioles, and I stayed home with the girls. It ended up being an ok trade off, as the Os didn’t win anyway. And you know, that’s a shame. But I spent my time at home productively. And by productively I mean that I finished Jade Empire, almost finished building my Hirst Arts bell tower, and finished watching Season 1 of Legend of the Seeker.

Sunday we went down to Artscape in Baltimore. It was hot, humid, and sunny, but aside from that pretty good. We got to see some interesting artwork, some fantastic cars, and even a bunch of robots and rockets.

There were also a ton of giveaways. We walked away with so much swag!

If you look closely at the bottom of the picture, you’ll see the real prize of the day.

That’s right! 2 tickets to see the Orioles tomorrow night! How cool is that? Pretty damn cool. Plus every game we go to increases the chances that we’ll actually see them win a game.

I’ve decided that for all of these questions I’m just going to go ahead and post a Star Trek answer where applicable.

Day 10 - Favorite classic movie

So of course when I’ve made such a decision the question doesn’t have a Star Trek answer. Unless you mean classic Trek, in which case Star Trek IV The Voyage Home!

My regular favorite classic movie would probably be 12 Angry Men. That’s a movie everyone should see.

The printer works! We got this one. http://www.staples.com/Canon-PIXMA-MP640-Wireless-Photo-All-in-One-Printer/product_820528 Still need to set it up on the Mac though. I’d forgotten how much effort goes into setting up a printer for the first time.

We also picked up a sprinkler for the yard. It isn’t so much for the grass, which can turn brown, but the two young saplings that we planted last year. They aren’t doing so hot with the heat, and we’ve already lost the second shrub at the bottom of the walkway before the ivy. And the ivy is dying too!

Time to do some cleaning.

Cast On!

Day 09 - A movie with the best soundtrack

I’m so tempted to say Ladyhawk, just to see how many of you, unfamiliar with it, I could get to go check it out. But be warned, it’s terrible, awful, 80s synthesizer music, yet still such a good movie.

Not looking at musicals, the Best Soundtrack would have to be Conan the Barbarian.

It’s perfect for the movie, for gaming, cleaning, painting. Star Trek IV, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood (minus the pop songs) are also on my short list.

We’re getting a new printer tonight to replace the one that died. We’ll also be doing some cleaning, and watching The Wire. Such an exciting life!

Day 08 - A movie that you have seen countless times

In an effort to not answer Star Trek for all of the questions, I’m going to say Disney’s 3 Musketeers. It’s one of those movies that is a lot of fun, has a great cast, and I can totally relax to.

Last nights puppy class went well. Alice managed to keep her focus, in spite of all the other people and dogs doing all sorts of crazy things.

Tonight I have a board meeting for the dog club. I fear that like yesterday, tonight will be a late night, and less fun than playing with my puppy.

And the printer died. :-( Perminantly. Does anyone use HP 02 ink? We have some for you!

I write like
Stephen King

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

I actually ran this a couple of times and had several Dan Brown results, as well as a couple of Tolkien.

I also ran the Declaration of Independence, and it says that Mr. Jefferson writes like H.P. Lovecraft! Now there’s a fun plot hook for a Revolutionary War/Early Republic era Call of Cthulhu game!!

Day 07 - The most surprising plot twist or ending

I knew there was something up, but I was genuinely surprised by The 6th Sense. Star Trek the Motion Picture also had a thought provoking twist at the end.

Tonight we start puppy agility with Alicemonster. I really wish the class didn't start at 8:15.

Day 06 - Favorite made for TV movie

10th Kindom would be my choice for a broadcast tv movie. John Adams is my choice for a made for cable TV movie.

I’m kind of annoyed with some people online. If you’re reading this, you aren’t one of them. There is a community that I'm part of that has gone on for almost 40 years (I haven't been a member that long obviously), and one of the newer members said that the stuff he and the other newer people are doing is superior to what was done back in the "golden days". Some of the old grognards have taken some offense at this and posted blog and forum entries that should have been reconsidered. I just want to get back to my hobby, thank you very much.

Yesterday was too nice to spend much time online.

Day 04 - A movie that makes you sad

Lost in Translation

Day 05 - Favorite love story in a movie

John and Abagail Adams.

Went and saw Toy Story 3 last night, in 3-D. I'd really like to invest in a comfortable pair of 3-D glasses. They always press just a touch too much around the ears. The movie was perfect. Absolutely perfect.
